Suggested Uses

Use this to introduce pupils to the uses of Excel and Chart Wizard
When analysing and presenting results.

Pupils have to carry out a sensory evaluation of a food (suggest varieties of apples) and score the identified attributes.

Pupils enter their scores onto an Excel spread sheet and then convert it to a Sensory Star Profile using Chart Wizard

How to do this..

1. Pupils taste 2 or 3 different apples. They must score the apples sensory attributes on a scale of 1-5. eg. Sweetness.
2. Open Excel in programs menu.
3. Enter sensory attributes in column A starting in row 2.
4. Enter apple varieties in row 1 start in column B.
5. Enter scores.
6. Click in grey square top left corner of window to highlight work.
7. Select Chart Wizard symbol (bar graph) on tool bar top of screen.
8. Select chart type – Radar.
9. Step 1 of 4:Select chart sub-type1
10. Step 2 of 4: Next
11. Step 3 of 4: Enter chart title – sensory attributes of Apples.
12. Step 4 of 4: Select –As a new sheet. –Finish.
13. Pupils can save and print chart to present results in work books.
